Default Cigarette lighter fuse keeps blowing

The 15a fuse for the outlet keeps blowing. I only use this for cell charger adaptors and I'm using one that hasnt given any problem in my other car so I dont believe its the charger. I'm wondering if increasing to a 20 amp fuse presents any risk to car or electronics I'm charging?

Never increase the rated fuse on a given circuit, it's there for a reason. Either the circuit is being overloaded or there is a short.

Time to do a bit of investigation. If you can read a circuit diagram download yours free at jagrepair.com.

Just had a look at the diagram and it appears you should have a 20A fuse fitted and not a 15A fuse.
Fuse 14 passenger side fuse box.

That said, it would still be prudent to find out why a 15A fuse is rupturing on a phone charger.

In my experience if you can wiggle the charger in the socket, its too loose and can cause a spark as inserted or removed. Causing a spark can pop a fuse especially if its 5 amps under spec. NEVER install a higher amp fuse beyond the circuit's rating.

Hi Noelstone, I know this is a very old post but did you manage to find the source of the problem?

The fuse to my cigarette lighter kept blowing and it turned out to be a pinched wire under the shifter. I found it after taking the center console out to run wires for an antenna up/down switch.
