Default Coil cover question

I am aware that there were 2 types of coil covers used on the XK8/XKR. There is the first type that is attached to the cam covers via several screws, and there is the later type that is an overall larger plastic cover that press-fits to metal studs that extend up from the cam covers. In my 2005 XKR, I obviously have the latter style and I consider this to be a fragile and inferior design.

I assume that the plastic pegs that accept the metal studs will get brittle and break over time. In a parts list that I was able to obtain, it looks like the old style coil covers can be ordered apart from the cam covers, but I could not find a part number for the new style covers. Can these be ordered independently of the cam covers? I am just asking in anticipation of these eventually breaking.

Thanks,

Doug

On the first version coil covers, the knurled metal nuts embedded into the cam covers will easily strip out; so I am not so certain they are a 'better' option. Considering Jag changed from these to the later version suggests they aren't. On my '97, a few of these stripped, which required they be reinserted and bonded with some JB Weld. So far the fix has held. gordo
