Default Controls backlights

Hi all. I bought a 2005 XKR with over 140,000 miles on it. Some of the instrument and control lights/backlights were burned out when I got it, and I had them replaced. However, I'm not sure if the following items have backlights (they aren't illuminated on my car) - if anyone can confirm on their car please let me know if these are supposed to be backlit so I can get them fixed: 1) Passenger door window up/down switch (the switches on my drivers side door are illuminated, but not the passenger door one), 2) the round trip computer switchpack above the fuel/water gauge, and 3) any of the various buttons on the steering wheel. I tried to figure it out by reading the handbook and technical manuals and searching the forum, but couldn't. Thanks for your help.

Passenger door switches are illuminated. The trip and steering wheel buttons are not.

Thanks for the reply. Followup question for my 2005 XKR: Do the "ASL" and "S" buttons on the gear shifter bezel have backlights too? Not talking about the tiny red light at the top of the button that comes on when they're turned on, but rather lighting up the "ASL" and "S" on the buttons, similar to this XJR link: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...klight-138268/ .

No, just the red light.

Update FYI: The trip switchpack on my 2005 XKR DOES have a backlight (bulb was out).

What bulb size does it use?

Not sure, mechanic replaced it - I know it had the blue condom cover on the bulb.

I pulled mine out and confirmed it's a T4.2 Neo Evo Wedge. Replaced it as well. This is also the same bulb that's used in the buttons for the gas cap and trunk opening buttons, the driver and passenger switch packs (power window switches), the top two rows of the climate control and a couple other spots in the center console.

The valet button, the seat memory buttons next to the door handle, and a few other buttons in the center console (most of the third row and part of the second row), all use the T3 Neo Evo Wedge bulbs. The radio uses grain of wheat 3 mm bulbs soldered in place.

My experience thus far, everything that comes in a T Neo-Evo Wedge that is an LED is dimmable. The grain of wheat bulbs for the radio head unit? That can vary depending on bulb quality. If they're not dimmable, they'll burn out when you try to dim them.

If you're going with type of LEDs that can't fit the rubber condom of the incandescent bulbs (these are the exposed chip bulbs most common in the Neo Evo Wedge design, the Ice-blue bulbs are the closest match to the OE color.
