Convertible Roof 2001 XKR
I have just had all the lines, the latch, Hydraulic fluid replaced. (Wow, what a big job! Basically, a good part of the interior has to be removed to thread the lines), The roof opens, the small side windows open - all fine. The roof closes, but at the very end, the latch will not close completely. The latch is also a reconditioned one.
As a result, the closing process is incomplete and the side windows will not close. The roof has to be manually secured. Then, the side windows will close if I push the Open/Close button.
I am told that the pump may be defective - or perhaps just the solenoids on the pump (2) and that this is the reason why the roof will not latch securely.
Would appreciate any advice.

This is a very well know problem and I hope you installed the improved hoses so you get a shower of hydraulic fluid when operating the top.
If you post to the forum for your car they can help. Also consider adding the remote control option to the roof. This is another great addition that a fellow Jaguar owner came up with and everybody really likes it.

1jaglvr,
Based on your description, you can rule out a bad pump, though a solenoid problem is a possibility.
First things to check:
- the fluid level in the pump reservoir ... should be at least to the lower of two indicator lines on the reservoir with the top up,
- the petcock on the pump ...must be turned fully clockwise until snug.
- possible the latch hoses were reversed when reinstalling. These are the two hoses on the inboard (i.e. visible) side of the pump. Try reversing them.
