Now that I seem to have my XK8 running like a champ, I've started on the non-critical issues that bother me. The Boot Cover, Convertible top cover snaps wouldn't hold above 30mph. I stopped using it thinking it might flap back and muck up the paint. The "Tenax" fasteners were available from Jaguar but they only come in black, that wasn't acceptable. So I order a pair from "Outdoor Fabrics" of Barrie ON, Canada.
$8.31 each and $1.25 for the tool. It took 2 minutes to replace them and I did a 100mph test. (closed course, professional driver) (well almost) They worked better than the originals at !/2 the cost.

Did I mention a local Upholstery shop quoted me $100, and it will take two weeks to get the part (1)

 

Our snaps continue to hold tight, but this is great information for all ragtop XK8 owners to file away for future use....

 

OMG took my 2000XK8 in to a local detail shop to have leather conditioned and detailed , owner of the place put the top up while boot cover was securely fastened. Ripped the original TENAK pull fasteners right through the leather . I'm so upset ! Hope to find replacement and have the Detailers Insurance provider cover the cost since it was in perfect working order before I brought it there unfortunately Jaguar dealer parts manager says only Gray color cover is available I need Ivory color plus the two ring type pull fasteners . Boot doesn't seem to fit as it used too either since it stretched from having been lifted while attached.
