Default Convertible top not latched

Closed my hood (roof) last night and it closed latched and rear windows went up. I then noticed the HOOD NOT LATCHED warning on the dash. Thinking it just needed re closing I attempted to re open the hood. BAD MOVE! The rear windows went down and then stopped. Top didn't come down or un latch . I am now left with my rear windows down and a hood that wont open. Any idea how to resolve problem. Have made sure top is locked by checking with the allen key and it is fully closed but the message is still showing on the dash. so I think it is the switch on the top lock. The problem is I cant get the hood open to get to the switch. I have released the pressure at the pump but there is a lot of resistance when I try to open the hood manually. Any help welcomed
Cheers

If you have the cars handbook you can follow the manual opening/closing procedure. If not the go to the boot/trunk and open the tee shaped petcock on the pump. Then unlatch the roof/hood and manually put it at full open position. Then try spraying some WD-40 on the latch to free up the limit switches.
Close the petcock, move the latch to closed and then try to close the roof with the button. The latch should pop up and the roof should begin to rise.
By the way while you are there check the pump level.
