Default Convertible top question

I have read the many threads regarding the lowering of the pressure on our hydraulic top operating pressures. I see both resistor and hydraulic have some good results.

My question is, has anyone done both?

Once you do the hydraulic bypass I don't see any benefit of the resistor method since the pump output pressure is now regulated anyway. Unless there is some gain in long term pump life?

Use the search feature of the forum to track down the endless threads and debates about the two options. Personally I opted for the relief valve since it was the only option available at the time. But even though it is the costlier solution, I would still opt for it over the resistor since, at least to my mind, it is the more direct solution and pressure reduction results using this system have been exhaustively measured and confirmed. Doing both would seem overkill and possibly harmful in terms of overly reducing the pressure and the ability of the top to work as designed.
