Cool Ferry. It makes for a fun drive in the Jag.
Maybe this should be in off-topic, but the pic is an XK8, so I'm putting it here. About an hour and a half away from my home is a very cool ferry across the Cape Fear River. Here's a Wikipedia article that will tell you all about it:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elwell_Ferry
The ferry only holds two cars, but I've never had to share it with another car. The river is only about 120 meters wide at the ferry crossing, but it still takes five minutes to get across because the ferry is powered by what seems like a Briggs and Stratton lawn mower engine with no muffler. To keep it from drifting down stream, there is a cable strung across the river, and the ferry has two pulleys on it. The cable runs through the pulleys and keeps the ferry from floating away. If you're ever in southeastern NC it's a fun little diversion. It's about 20 minutes southeast of Elizabethtown off of highway 87.
The last time I was there I asked the ferry driver if I could get out and take some pics. In the pic below the car is on the actual ferry. That is not a loading ramp or anything. I'm standing at the far end of the ferry taking the picture. I tried to get my wife to get out of the car and let me take some scantily clad pictures of her in front of the Jag, but she refused.
I wanted to post them in the "Girls on Jags" forum.

In this pic you can see the ferry crossing and the actual ferry in the background.

Wow. That is really neat, but almost pointless. I love it. Nice pictures. Next time get some in the dawn or dusk with a beautiful orange-red sky and some local "dancers" to help you out with the scantily clad part.
Pretty cool. I've been on a similar ferry once before and I always wondered why they didn't build a bridge. The span wasn't that far and they wouldn't have to pay a ferry operator. The operator didn't know either, but he was glad to be paid (obviously
