I have been trying to fine the drain plug on the rad. No luck. Parts will not be here till tomorrow, and its Super Bowl Sunday. Tailgate with a few friends, few adult beverages, unhealth food that tastes great or work on the Jag. This is a tuff one!! Jim

Drain Plug is on the right hand side and facing the engine - not on the bottom of the radiator. Black plastic plug with a cross head.

Attack it from underneath the car.

change the thermostat while you're at it. Heating problems could very well be caused by a stuck tstat also. The last hose you were phootographing is the octopus heater hose assembly. Those connections always leak...same happened with mine.

Default Coolant leak

I have just replaced the original plastic thermostat housing with upgrade which I think is aluminium. Reason being is that the low coolant warning light came on two weeks ago, and I topped up coolant level last week and when car was being serviced late week we found the 'original thermostat housing' was leaking. It was replaced as was coolant and no problems. When we examined the the old plastic housing, one of the inlet hose connector's broke apart. Lucky me.

and what about the actual t-stat, did your new aluminum housing come with a replacement unit?

My unit did not come with the t-stat. I had to order it seperately from Coventry West. Housing $70, t-stat, $35, upper and lower hoses $82.50. (alumiun was cheaer than the plactic) It was a $200 dollar bill with shipping. Did not like the web site, called them and it took a few minutes and the order was completed. Called late Friday and the parts were here by lunch Monday. Hopefully will not have to work late tomorrow and can get started. Jim

Better and cheaper - that's a win - win situation.

When fitting the thermostat, it will go in any rotation but 'giggle pin' (the hole with the pin) must go at the top as shown:

This is to allow any air to bleed out the system.

Jim,

Jaguar repair manuals ceased to be available in printed format some time before your car Model Year - they went electronic as the JTIS.

You'll find a link to download the JTIS (Jaguar Technical Information System) in the 'stickies' at the top of the threads.
