Lightbulb Supercharger Upper and Lower Pulleys

Has anyone installed this on their XKR...

The current belt is squeeking and needs to be replaced and the PBTW has given me permission to do what it takes to stop the noise... Thank goodness now I can start to play...

Now I know it needs a new belt,,, but I figure since I am gonna start with replacing the belt I might as well research this as well...

Jaguar 4.2L Multi-Piece Supercharger Pulley Kit

Thanks in advance,

That looks like the setup Mike @ Eurotoys sells. I have installed it on a car. You will definetly see an improovement. When we first drove the car with that setup & accelerated up the driveway we put down over 100 feet of rubber. That was months ago & it is still there. That car also had a Milltek exhaust. If you that you will want/need a Quaife LSD.

"That looks like the setup Mike @ Eurotoys sells."

It is off their Website,,, Yes and the one I am considering which upper pulley did you use? 1.5 or 2.5???

Did you do the install or have a shop do it?

What others did you consider other than Eurotoys?

And was there any issues on the install?

Thanks

We installed the pulley in our shop, the upper pulley was done @ Steigemier & is a 2.5 as he modified the nose to fit it.

I read up on that I do not feel comfortable with the whole grinding issue,,, You need to remove 4-8mm of material and the metal particles get everywhere... also could fatigue the metal and there is constant force at that point.... But that is me... Any issue yet,,,

Did you have to Flash the ECU???

And what about the vehicle running hotter??? Did that happen?

The 1.5 does not reguire any mods,,, Correct???

Thats a lot of money, I beleive even Mina is cheaper.

I have both pulleys done, it is a good change but something I might not recommend without other cooling mods taking place, just doing one or the other will give a marked change

Is it the same set up? I did not see it there but I will look again...

Is there a difference in quality,,, money is not a a deciding factor when I purchase something...

I would evaluate it on different levels such as Quality, Performance, Belt Life, and installation,,,

What would be to 1st cooling mod other then the thermostat which I planned on anyway...

Thank you again I will check Minagallery out and look harder...

The reason I had the smaller pulley done was we were unsure about doing the lower pulley as it does involve a modified oil filter housing. The next time I will just install the 1.5 upper pulley & the lower kit. I would recomend the kit & a Quaife. If cooling is an issue just install a Snow Performance water methanol injection system. The way they work you are basically cooling the supercharger. The above mods will give you the most bang for your buck. You should also consider an exhaust such as Milltek or Quick Silver. If money is no object buy the Arden exhaust for twice the money.

I have done dozens of lower pulleys and never had to change an oil filter housing, why would you need to??

The pulley kit shown at the begining of this post is for a later aluminum car. To install a larger pulley on a later car the oil filter housing has to be modified. This allows for the larger pulley.

To complement Jgaxkr, the one shown is also for the 4.2 Stype's and 4.2 XJR's.

I suppose it depends on what performance you have been used to.For me that XKR is hairaisingly fast can't imagine wanting anything faster. Havn't found a long enough road free of traffic to even get near to using it's potential.

For track use well may be!

That answers that question I have only done top pulleys on the X150

The only track worth taking these cars on is the 1/4 strip and that isnt the best without an LSD and stuck with the auto box, the best I have seen anyone do is high 13s in a standard XKR and that was lighting the tyres up all the way, not good for the times, with an LSD that would improve a lot.

As to using one on a normal track, yes it is fun but the car is no performer and you will get over taken but much smaller nimble things with tweeked engines

Hi XKRacer Amazing that what feels powerful to me is slow against some machines.

I was brought up on cars in the sixties the fastest one I had a few years ago was a MGR V8 probably felt as fast as my xkr but the ride quality and handling was poor.

Happy now with the xk but would love some of your engine detailing.

Cheers AL
