Coolant reservoir repair

Coolant reservoir repair
Hi All!
We had a bit of a mishap last weekend and the coolant bleeder hose crumbled. We did a quick McGyver repair just to make it home. I replaced the hose today and then realized I need to change the entire reservoir. I just purchased the part online. Is this an easy enough repair or is it something I should have a professional do?
Thanks,
Julie

Julie,
This is an easy DIY fix. Search the threads. There are many discussion on the topic as it is a very common problem.

Useful tip: a wine cork is the perfect size to plug the bottom hose to the tank. Your wine can breathe while you replace the tank and will be ready for the job-well-done celebration afterwards. Of course, now you'll have to drink the entire bottle since the cork is contaminated.
p.s. my bleeder hose broke as well. I also did the same fix except I used black gasoline line since it matched better.

There's only four things to disconnect on the Expansion Tank:
1. Outlet Hose (Cork - arrowed in red)
2. Bleed Hose (you've already repaired - arrowed in blue)
3. Expansion Hose (arrowed in yellow)
4. Harness Connector for coolant level sensor (arrowed in green)
If you're not sure of the age or concentration of the coolant, it's a good opportunity to combine the Expansion Tank replacement with a radiator flush and refill.

Gentlemen,
Thank you for the advice on my coolant reservoir repair. I used the turkey baster and the wine cork and the replacement went off seamlessly. This is the first auto repair (except for the bleeder hose last week) I have ever done!! Now to celebrate with that open wine!
Grateful-
