I ordered yesterday the dipstick. I have Icarsoft LR 2.0 diagnostic, tomorrow I'll try if I can see the oil temp. Another advice: since the car has covered only 3000km after the service, could I simply change the oil two or three times, without removing the sump? Or it's imperative replace the filter?

I have the icarssoft LR v 1.0 It works
fine in reading the transmission fluid temp, as long as you put the gear selector in D or R.

i would not bother with removing the filter and sump plate. Just drain and repeat 3 times at a minimum of at least 100 mile intervals. That will give you a minimum of the old ATF in the system

And Just get a new drain plug copper washer. Don’t over tighten the drain plug. Snug plus a little is best..

However, it can only do good to do a second change after a few weeks but I don't remove the sump as I don't change the filter again. It's certainly worth measuring the amount of oil you drain out but you won't be able to refill with the same amount without going through the usual re-fill procedure with the engine running so you might as well follow the standard refill procedure and confirm that you added roughly the same amount as you removed.

What am l missing here?
Drain the pan, replenish with same quantity of fresh fluid down filler tube on W5A580. I have refreshed my trans fluid on several occasions, no need for engine running to fill, other than to bring up to temp and level check.

I'll go replacing oil only.. it's much easier and cheaper. The filter with only 3000km is reusable. But in the end the level has to be checked with engine running or not?

I think what he means is that you can’t check the ATF level with the dipstick without the engine running.. so “assuming” the level is currently correct, you just add the same amount of ATF as was drained out of it.?

bur once you get the hang of using the dipstick and running back to check the transmission temp on your icarsoft often, then it’s no big deal to use the dipstick / temp method. Which is really the best way. My ATF level was way low when I first bought my car. I know a shop did the OP’s ATF change,
but I don’t trust their work.

Be aware that the W5A580 gearbox temp is only on the CAN bus when the selector is in DRIVE or REVERSE.

it doesn’t hurt to repeat this (see post #21). I’ve had pro transmission guys argue this point, even after I showed them the service bulletin.

Update: I lifted the car and found the sump a little wet, so I decided to do a complete service, new gasket and filter, and new wiring harness connector. I'll purchase the Febi Bilstein kit. My car has the torque converter bolt access. Here's some pics:

Over tightening the pan bolts will cause leaks.

I’m sure you will do a better job than the dealership.

People in all professions tend to get way too hurried when money is concerned. They are always thinking of the next job when they are working on yours.

l recall my pan bolts secure little "rotate to hold" hooks, gasket can't be overtightened.

Interesting. maybe a year specific feature. Hadn’t found those on my 2002 XKR transmission pan or lower engine oil pan.

Here you go. They hook over the folded rim of the pan and seat directly on the body of the housing, there are no holes in the pan itself.

The same as mine, you can overtight the bolts, but the gasket will be always compressed in the same way.

I’ll have to investigate

Hi, yesterday I started draining the transmission oil. This evening I will continue replacing pan gasket, filter and connector housing, which I have seen it will be difficult due to the position behind the rh cat. I will keep you updated..
