I am looking to remove the factory harmon kardon radio and install a Alpine or Pioneer fold out navigation av screen. Has anyone else had success with this? Any tips? Are there any major hoops to jump through to get everything to work? I have a 2000 Jaguar XK8.

yes, can be done, I've seen it a few times (remember to check the screen-motor out procedure, depending on the model, it may hit the gear shift knob upon use.) And, you'll be blocking your A/C controls. Since i did not want to do that to myself, I went with a single DIN DVD receiver from JVC, the ADV49, but the AVX77 is the latest upgrade. All personal preference and what you want to sacrifice.

My thread is in the Audio/Visual area of the forums if you want to see what I did.

Only real issues are if you can find the wiring harness, I think a UK supplier makes them, but me (and others) just splice for the connections.

The other issue is a trim faceplate, it must be custom, so find a good shop to make you one of perfect size, color, texture and sheen...unless you're good at carpentry.
