Default VIN Number Decoder / Car Options

Is there a way to determine what options a car has installed, perhaps by VIN number. I may be pulling the trigger on an 05-06 XKR soon, I want to research the vehicles I'm looking at, dealers don't always know what they have.

For example, how can you tell if the car has the optional radar based cruise control. Are there additional buttons on the wheel to look for?

Any dealer can product a 'build' document from the VIN. Ask nicely.

The standard cruise control has the normal buttons on the front of the steering wheel but the radar cruise has an addition two buttons on the side of the steering wheel that you manipulate with your fingers (instead of your thumb). They are kinda hidden. You have to look at the right side of the steering wheel behind the standard cruise buttons. There is also a resume button back there. The additional two buttons are above and below the resume button.

Also the adaptive cruise control will have another button on the left side under the steering wheel by where the valet button is located. It is a square button just like the valet one.

Thanks, I asked them...here is the print for 2006 XKR coupe I'm looking at. Any thoughts why there is no compass? Do these cars have bluetooth or phone support standard? Does the premium audio have XM capabilities? Does this have the 'handling package'?

Sorry for all the questions, I'm not sure what small things are options that might or might not be included. I thought only big things like wheels, ACC, and the brakes were the only options.

Let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

I thought the compass is standard in the rearview mirror on the 2003 and up? That is strange. You won't need it, if you do, turn on your Nav.

Do these cars have bluetooth or phone support standard?
Not sure, phone would show up on your list if it was wired with it.

Does the premium audio have XM capabilities?
Nope, sorry.

Does this have the 'handling package'?
Yes, R will have the adaptive suspension. '

I see it also has the Recaro seat, and those big (and expensive) Brembo brakes.

No adaptive cruise control though... no biggie.

Do they put the phone icon button on cars without the bluetooth, this car has the phone icon there. Is this easy to add with parts from a dealer, I am used to having it on my other cars. For 90k you would think they just make it all standard, doesn't make sense.

Are there different audio system options? I thought the XKR had an Alpine system standard.

Go to your dealer and ask them to get you a copy of the Monroney Label. (window sticker) They can order it from Jaguar using your VIN number.

If it is Bluetooth equipped it will have a microphone adjacent to the overhead console. (see image below) Note: Our generation XKs have limited Bluetooth functionality. Also the adaptive cruise is nice especially for the front park assist but I understand the control modules frequently fail and cost up wards of $1,500 to replace.

Additionally, that particular car also has the "Supersports suspension" on top of the "R" CATS system - From the JTIS it is described as:
An optional enhanced handling pack, which can be either factory or dealer installed, is available for XK coupe vehicles fitted with adaptive damping only. If the handling pack is installed the high performance Brembo brakes and special wheels must also be installed. The handling packs consist of special:Coil springs.Shock absorbers.Adaptive Damping Control Module (ADCM)Increased diameter, front stabilizer bar.Reduced diameter, rear stabilizer bar.Steering rack.Power steering control module
