Dashboard headlight icon not working
Hello,
I'm searching for a hint/advice, what could be the reason that the green icon indicating the headlights are on is not working (light are working fine).
it started after the last service in which I
1/ exchanged the lightbulpbs under the dashboard (half of them went dead, it's a 20yo car)
2/ replaced the Brake Pedal Cruise Control Switch LJB6420BB (took out the driver's seat to get it done)
3/ replaced the fron foglight
All the other icons on the dashboard work fine - just the green icon of the headlights is dead
patient - 2005 XKR
any ideas?
big thanks in advance!

I have exactly the same problem on my X308 but I hadn't done anything which might have caused the failure - it just stopped working.
I popped out the instrument console to replace the bulb but first swapped it with the one next to it (parking brake, I think) and the bulb was fine. It also appeared to be securely seated.
Interested in any other thoughts people might have. Otherwise, it's a warning light I can do without.

If you replaced with an LED, there's a high likelihood that it's on backwards. LED bulbs are polarity specific. If they are new halogens, I would suspect either they are not properly seated and thus not making contact, or the holder is damaged. On the off-chance you used dielectric grease, then that's most likely the problem. That grease is actually an insulator. The bulb contacts on the dashboard are super tiny. Even a very thin film of the grease is enough to stop the bulbs from working. If you did use it, remove the bulb and clean up both the bulb and bulb holder until no grease remains.
