Default Day time running lights?

Is there a way to get day time running lights operational on my 05 XK8? I would think being required in Canada, it would be a BCM upgrade?

It is software set through SDD if you have it or a dealer can set them for you.

Does that apply to the 1996/2006 XK8/XKR? There's specific headlamps listed in JEPC for Canada specification.

Hi.

You have a choice in the diagnostic system, either Canadian or Scandinavian DRLs. The functions are slightly different to satisfy regulations.
It's under dealer options, a 5 minute job.

You can also put a jumper to ground on the fog light relay under the hood and they will come on without the headlights on.

Can you be more specific as to which pin on which relay under the hood to ground, to turn the fog lights on without having the headlights coming on? I consider that is the neatest DRL solution as it is simple and does not require buying the DRL and mounting/wiring it. I so seldomly turn on my fog lights and think its about time to turn them into DRL.

Mine is a '97 XK8.

What is "SDD"? I'm interested in having this done for my 2005 XKR and the Jaguar dealer in Monterey says you can't activate DRLs in a 2005 -- only for 2007+. Sounds like they don't know what they're talking about.

any year/submodel XK8 can have the DRLs activated through the dealer programming options. i have not activated it on the xk8, but on my other vehicles the high-beams are not at full brightness when in DRL mode so jumping the pin might be brighter than DRL spec.

my technician lets me play with his system, there are many items that can be customized. it would be definitely be worth it to get this software hookup for yourself.

BTW, I had the Jaguar dealer in San José, CA activate the DRLs on my '05 XKR; they charged $100.

Annapolis Jaguar in Maryland turned mine on for free and gave me a cappuccino while I waited.

Was the cappuccino worth the drive from New Brunswick?

It was a pretty good cappuccino even if it didn't have a leaf or a rose in the milk.
I bought the Jag in the DC area and they were close and very nice.

It was all meant to be, The Canadian dollar was at par. I had already taken the week off when I saw the ad and the flight from Bangor to Dulles was on sale, $50.
