Default Daytime Running Lights - Canada

First time with top down weather, but still a little mud on the roads.

I am now just getting my 2004 XK8 convertible out of winter storage for the first time, and have a question. As soon as I turn on the ignition headlights and tailights and marker lights are all on as well as the green headlamp indicator on the dash. The only thing that changes when I turn on the headlights is that the dashboard light dim, and the backlighting on the console switches come on and workj onm the dimmer. I would have expected to only have the daytime small headlight on. Is something messed up. This is a caar which was originally sold ion Canada so I don't think it is like an American car that someone modified for the required day time running lights.

Mine is exactly the same as yours. It's not broken, just the way Jaguar got around our laws.

In a way, you're lucky. I have a titanium grey XK8, blends perfectly with asphalt, especially in the evening. I feel like I'd be crazy to drive around with headlights off.

Since I have a USA configuration, I have to fool the car by taping over the automatic headlight receptor in the rear view mirror. That puts all the dashboards lights on the dimmer circuit, even in the daytime.

See this thread for an easy way to have the front driving lights on all the time. Post #12

Hi.

You can progam DRL via SDD, at least on my -97.
It is under dealer options: Off, Canadian or Scandinavian.
