Delphi TC8124 coil spring seat/insulator
I am in the process of replacing the rear struts on my 1997 XK8 convertible. I can’t find the Delphi TC 8124 coil spring seat/insulator available anywhere. I have found a lot of places that carry them, but no one has them in stock. Has anyone used an alternative brand that they were happy with and would feel comfortable recommending? Thanks.
Hi drk1074,
I have moved your thread from the General Tech forum to the forum for the X100, which is the Jaguar factory project code for your 1997 XK8 convertible. Here you will find knowledgeable members of similar cars.
You do not specifically need the Delphi version of the rear coil spring seat/insulators, also known as the "donuts." The KYB version is available from several sellers, and Rock Auto has a great price on them. FCP Euro and Partsgeek also carry the KYBs, plus the "Genuine Jaguar" versions (for more than twice the price). The FCP Euro price is higher than Rock Auto, but FCP offers a lifetime guarantee on all of their parts, so that may make the difference worth it to you. I do not know which company is currently making these for Jaguar, but I suspect it might be KYB, Eurospare or ÜRO Parts. It is highly unlikely that the Original Equipment Manufacturer is still making these for Jaguar.
Cheers,
Don

I do see Jegs has them coming in on 11-12-2025? No guarantee they will come in.

I finished replacing the rear shocks and coil spring seat/insulators (donuts) with Bilstiens and KYBs on my 97 XK8 convertible. I used the scissor jack method espoused by one of our members, and it made the job much easier for me. I’m not saying that’s the right way to do it, but the way that worked for me. I don’t remember the individual who posted the method with excellent pics, but thank you. And I don’t have a lift, just a jack and jack stands.
