Dipstick tube replacement round 2
XKR x100 - I’ve replaced the dipstick tube twice now in an endeavour to get the o ring fully inserted. I decided to straighten it a little for my second attempt after previous tapping may have bent the tube. The tube is back in but I can’t seem to seat the new ‘o’ ring past the entrance. Next step is to attach my multitool to the tube and try and vibrate it in. It is presently leaking engine oil past the seal quite badly when running (pool on floor). This is probably exacerbated by the fact it is showing max level but, if it’s sitting slightly high, must be overfilled a little. Out of interest, that elusive line of sight to the tube entrance appears obscured by a wiring loom. This didn’t seem to want to go behind during insertion. I was wondering whether the tube bend might now be sitting on top making final insertion even more difficult? Another point is that the lug is sitting at finished height already. I have notched it to get it on the cam cover bolt. Any alternative thoughts from experts out there.
