Default Door switch acting up

Passenger side door switch acting up. I was told I could spray the switch with WD 40 on / in the switch. Could someone direct me where to spray and the benefit of spraying the switch. Problem is the puddle light does not come on when the door is open and there is not door open indicator on the dash illuminated. Any help appreciated.

Steve, Jon89 and I did this job a year or so ago on his wife's 2006.
He has all the numbers for the micro switch used, getting the adjustment right is a real pain but after reading his writeup all is explained.
Surprised you didn't have trouble with the driver side also.

Not sure if your car is a convertible. Not much about the year and body style in your profile description

If it's a convertible, do the windows drop when ya yank on the door handle? Honestly, I don't know if that's a feature of both convertible and coupe...or just the convertible.

Anyways, are you saying that the instrument cluster display does NOT say that the door is ajar or open? Could it just be the bulb? Or is it that the sensor is saying the door is closed alllll the time?

I think swapping of the few $$$$ micro switch is in your future. Not a hard job, just a pain in the tuckass...

EDIT - I missed your other thread where most all of my questions were covered... Ooops...

Steve, some respected members have suggested that WD40 "fixes" are no more than the lucky coincidence of an intermittent switch problem clearing simultaneously. My intermittent switch fixed itself when I was 3/4 of the way into taking it out - that was at least 5 yrs ago all still good.

The link describes where 2 spray what 2 do. Good luck, let us know how u do.

John

Sprayed door latch with WD 40, let it set. No luck. No puddle lamp and door does not appear to be open with car running. Looks like I will need to replace the Micro switches. Thanks for the help. Will let you know how it goes.

You need to change a microswitch inside of the door lock. It's not a difficult thing to do it just takes a few hours. Essential Door MicroSwitch Replacement Guide - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum this is the microswitch you will need D2SW-3L3MS Omron Electronics | Mouser United Kingdom
