A few weeks ago I started to get drivers door open message and the associated alarm, window up and locking issues that go with it. I put in a new micro switch as was suggested in numerous threads on the forum. Th problem has showed up again so I started to investigate. I noticed that the plastic has worn through on the striker suggeating that the latch may not be fully against the micro switch wjen the door is closed. I wrapped a bit of duct tape around the black plastic on the striker and problem solved. Obviosly the duct tape will not endure so I have ordered a new striker, $53.12 canadian. I will let you know how it works out. Latch has worn through plastic sleeve on door striker, same on the bottom of this view.
You would have been better off slackening the two 50 ml Torx bolts and sliding in the striker a little if you think thats what it is. That worn striker is just a sign that your door is starting to sag on its hinges a little.
As I said, wrapping some duct tape aroud the worn parts solved the drivers door open message. The worn plastic through to the metal are top and bottom not in and out. I did try your suggestion without the duct tape and it did not make the warning message go off. Will let you know how the new striker works out..
I am not knocking you buying a new striker. Could I point out though that the striker moves up and down as well as in and out? So if your problem is cased by not lifting the door up enough because of that tiny groove you could always loosen and move the striker bar upwards?
