Default Drivers window.

MY drivers window has decided to return to the closed position after opening the door when the handle is released, it does it sporadically(but does seem to be getting worse)and with enough flicking of the door handle will, in it's own time return to the correct position for closing the door . Any thought on what could be the cause would be much appreciated. Many thanks. Anthony.

Not that old, but the car has not had much use lately, so could be low voltage?

Yep. One of the first signs of dying batteries in these cars is faulty window operation....

Is a battery tender now in use ? Many electrical gremlins can be banished by the use of a tender whenever the car is going to
be sitting unused.

in my OCD world, the tender is in operation when the car is stationary overnight or longer.

Perhaps overkill for a car driven daily and with a perfectly functional charging system. And with a battery just reaching “middle age” @ 5 years old.

But I really despised those random “Fail-Safe” engine messages that popped up prior to the use of the tender. And now they lurk elsewhere.

All kinds of questions about tenders - I go days with out driving her... I don't mean to hijack, but since it came up...

Q: does the car achieve "SLEEP" when a tender is on it? And, if I got one of those solar type rear shelf units set up, wired it to the battery so the car was getting a "trickle" when parked,,, well - what are the potential ghosts that might appear?

I’m not aware of any reduction in the “sleep” cycle due to a battery tender being hooked up.

I agree with the assessment re the solar chargers. They are underpowered, and I’m not sure they have the necessary circuitry to tailor the charging rate to the the batter’s level of charge as do the better tenders.

Best to stick with the ones have good reviews: the NOCO Genius, CTEK, and Delran Battery Tender Plus.

Mine does.
I have LEDs in the front side and side marker lamps. They glow ethereally for some time after shutdown, then extinguish when she sleeps, either on or off the tender.

Good info! So the car WILL go to "sleep" on the tender...? Good.

I live in NYC. I cannot park the car (all 4 of them) in my driveway every night for a plug, so solar is a good option.

I have a hard time believing they have sold millions of the solar variety, for RVs, cars, bikes etc - if they couldn't keep a battery topped up. I'm not talking about bringing a battery back from near dead, just trickling some energieZ into it while the car is parked and off.

So yeah, I was just worried that it might have an effect on the ability of the ol car to fully shut down.
