That's so weird! I got the same exact problem today. I just bought the car yesterday, and today the DSC fault and ABS light came on at the same time. I stopped the car and restarted the engine and the lights went out, but I noticed that under medium braking I could hear the ABS chattering even though I was on dry pavement. I washed the car and scrubbed the wheels shortly before the lights came on, so I'm wondering if one of the wheel speed sensors is going bad, or maybe one of the electrical connections is wet.

I have a 2003 XK8, by the way.

Me too - especially when I go into a twisty driveway from the street with my foot of the brake pedal. Warning lights seem to do nothing - and go away with a restart. Any suggestions? Clean connections on the wheels? DaleD99

The first thing to do is to remove each wheel speed sensor from the hub assembly and give it a good soapy dawn scrubbin. If you had access to a scanner, like the AutoEngenuity w/ enhanced features enabled, the code could tell you EXACTLY which corner is having the issue.

If after cleaning, all remains the same (and you get some messages) look at the wiring harnesses next. (see how knowing which corner would be quite helpful?) then you could swap sensors around. If you know its the LF corner with the problem, and you swap with the RF, and the codes move over there, then its obviously the sensor.

Its a progressive diagnostic, but you can nail it down.

Dale D, sent you a PM with a little assistance.

When I first got my car from the jag dealer, I got a couple intermittent messages also, and after cleaning them really well, they went away permanently. Jag brake pads are very dusty (which I tend to believe was the cause of the sensor issue) and I changed them as well afterward to aftermarket pads.

good luck, and please let us know how it goes!
