Default dsc question

2005 xk8
I generally turn the dsc off while doing spirited driving. Every now and then I get a dsc fault, which means I cannot 'turn' it off but I assume it is 'off'.
The big question is, when driving, is there any any difference in the car's behavior between those two scenarios"?

When DSC or ABS system fault is displayed, the vehicle behaves as if these 'driver aids' were not fitted.

I have been getting an intermittent 'ABS inop' light (comes on for a couple of drives, then disappears). Recently after disconnecting the battery to change light bulbs in my dash cluster, I now have a constant CEL light, and a DSC inop caution warning. When I connect my OBDII to check, I ge a "#3" code, and when I try to erase the CEL, it constantly returns. I do not notice any driving problems, and the battery is new and fully charged. Any ideas??
