Default Glasspar G2 with XK8 running gear

Building a Glasspar G2 with running gear from a XK8 donor. Want to eliminate ABS. What is the best approach to the computer systems;
1. Modify/reprogram the ECM. Is this possible?
2. Install a stand alone computer system. Is there a system that can incorporate the transmission computer? Use a manual transmission?.
3. Convert to a carburetted intake and manual transmission. Has anybody tried to do this?
Would love to hear what others have done. Regards.

Huh??? Eliminate a vital safety system?

I assume there's more to the story here because you'd be taking on a lot of liability if there ever was an injury incident with this vehicle.

Yes there's more to the story. He's making a kit car using an XK8 engine, transmission and differential.

Yeah, got that, his explanation and picture made it pretty obvious what he's doing.

Which is very cool in and of itself, but it doesn't change my point.

In the USA at least, laws are more lax on kit cars. He could get away with it.

My best guess is that it would be easiest to build a little computer to emulate the ABS module.

That way you can still maintain whatever functions of the electronics system that you want, while also deleting the abs functionality and the pump/distribution block.

You can delete whatever features you want from the car, go a manual transmission, a carburetor instead of injection.
You just need to have the knowledge of how to emulate the computers of these systems so that your ECM doesn't get really pissed off.

He's in Calgary, which is a major city in the province of Alberta, in Canada. Not part of the USA, so not subject to USA laws.

Heh, sorry Ron. I was posting from my iPhone and didn't get to read his location data.

Not sure about Alberta, but here in NFLD the kit car would go a garage that holds a license to do motor vehicle safety inspections. As long as the licensed mechanic there says that is is safe for road use ....then it is. ABS is not a requirement, nor are air bags. for example.
