E-Brake & Rear Spring Mounts Finished
Finished the replacing the E-Brake shoes and Rear Top Mounts & Packing Seals Today. Car is definately stiffer and my rattle from the rear is completely gone, even over the harsh bumps.
Total time was about 6 hours with a few brakes to keep the machines running.
E-Brakes weren't to bad but same issue with the adjuster H20 had, except my driver side was installed backwards. The passenger side issue I was having with no through hole for adjustment was from who ever did the work in the past didn't line up the hole in the main hub with the one on the disc. Best $40.00 I've invested and only took a few years to find.
The top spring mounts and packing seals were a real B***h though. My spring compressors worked well, but having to compress the shock to pull the assembly out, wow. I only busted two knuckles, one per side, actually one knuckle and one finger joint. Highly recommend having this one done for you if you prefer not bleed. The first side took the longest of course as you have to figure out how to attack it. I think it took me 3 hours, about 45 min for E-Brakes (don't forget H20 I already had everything apart) and 1.5 hours for other side mount and packing.
Much to my suprise there was already a thick and thin packing seal installed on both sides. Look like someone else took Brutals advise first unless a dealer did it. I removed the thin shim and used two thick ones per side as this allowed the spring to still properly seat. All three would have been bad.
I'm hoping this will get my camber settings back in to spec. Still waiting for that top front shock mount for the passenger side before I get the alignment. Before I go in I will get the tires rotated and balanced. Next year I'll invest in new springs. After 170K I think she deserves it. It still amazes me how well the car rides and handles even with the issues I was having.
Thanks for all the help guys, and sorry no pics this time. Didn't want to bleed all over my phone.
