I am shopping for a spare ECU for my 97, LJA1410AH, but the nearest I can find is a LJA1410AK. Would the experienced members have an opinion of the compatibility of that unit with the rest of the systems?

 

I have some experience with Ford PCM's from the same era. The different part numbers were only different software loads and would work over several model years and a hundred or more different different loads. My opinion is that the hardware is close enough but you may have to have a dealer or well equipped indy do a software reflash . . . or it might work just fine.

I have a '99 PCM running my '00 302 V8 with very different part numbers and without software update. Not aware of anything that doesn't work.

 

Be aware that the 1997 XK8 in North America did NOT have a KTM so no key transponders were used. The 1998MY> used the KTM and immobilizer setup.

I don't know if the ECMs are compatible?????

Anyone tried swapping????

motorman et al, I checked a friends' 97 today, and he has a LJA1410 AK and no key transponder, so that unit will probably work.
But this afternoon I located an exact match LJA1410AH and ordered that. Bank interest is zip, so this is probably a better investment. Thanks again for your assistance.
