Default Electric aftermarket supercharger?

Just wondering if anyone has installed one of the electric aftermarket "supercharger" kits. I can see where it may force more air but will it really improve the performance? It works only when flooring the car either my a module at the throttle body or on the gas pedal.

If you are talking about one of those "fan" deals, it is impossible for such a fan to increase actual "pressure" in a system. Just like the "chips" it is just a worthless piece of junk on our Jags.

Of course, I do know that there are some vehicles on which a legitimate chip can cause significant improvement in performance.

Those electric fan kits are only useful if you have a rusty or squeaky snake you are trying to loosen up.

(AKA Snake Oil)

Vortech

The only ones that work are on the link above, but you still have the same issues as if you slapped a standard supercharger on

They look like turbos

Cheaper and less work to just buy an R model.

I figured they were crap. I knew the fan inserts were but was curious about the electric version. A friend put one on his Mazda and swears it made a big difference. Haven't seen it yet. But it wouldn't take much to make a difference on an old rx7. Lol

Chuckle. It's the 'butt dyno' at work again: people do work on the car, so of course it feels to them that the car is running better, with added performance.

FleaBay is full of adverts for gizmos that will improve performance 'by up to 20hp'. If the widgets were really that good for that little money, the manufacturers would have added them as standard items by now. So much 'snake oil' for the unwary.

In practice, folks will get better performance from an oil change, a new set of spark plugs and leads, cleaning up the ground points, etc. Even cleaning off the grime from the bodywork can improve the aerodynamic flow. By up to 20hp.

Best wishes, Colin

Don't be ridiculous, everyone knows that is only possible if you then go onto wax with python extract wax.

You can buy it at my other web site www.oneborneveryminute.com only $99.99 (patents and guarantees pending).

The electricity consumed by the blowers more than swallows up any HP they may have helped produce.

No free lunch.

I'm trying to explain to my friend that the fans actually obstruct the air flow when they aren't turning!! So probably not helping performance!!
