Electric Gremlins

Electric Gremlins
I noticed an issue with my Jag. Driving in rain, I was getting driver's door open message and the red light flashing. The overhead light comes on then goes out when the message disappears and light goes out. Well today, it did it again but now the window rolled down on its on. Has anyone seen this issue before?

I am not sure of the exact cause but at time the gremlins strike my car. I must assume it is a poor or contaminated connection that is causing it. I told myself that if it got out of hand I would begin the task of cleaning all my ground connections and any plug that I see in the process. And yes I would use dielectric grease. If you elect to do this I would suggest removing the battery terminal first and have the radio codes in hand just in case.

Hey Med, is that your plane in the background? I flew up until five years ago when I had an engine failure on takeoff and crashed into the woods. Fortunately I was just flying an ultralight at the time, so my speed was only about 25 mph. I still broke a lot of bones, though. One of the best flights ever was in Hawaii. My wife and I went there and rented a plane. We flew around a couple of the islands and stuff. It was awesome. Around here it's totally flat. Flying in Hawaii was a completely different experience. I've thought about getting current again, but I can't justify paying $120 per hour to rent a 172.

Oh... and back to the topic, it sounds like maybe water is getting into your driver's door. There's a plastic water deflector in the door that's supposed to keep water off of the electrical bits. Perhaps it has come off or something. It's really just a sheet of plastic film. Like Gus said, dielectric grease would keep the water out of the connectors and stuff.
