Default Electrical System Messages - Where to start?

'06 XK8 Convertible.

Recently anomalies-

1. Msg: Check Rear Lights (they're OK)
2. Msg: Cruise Not Available
3. CD player hiccups
4. Cruise Control doesn't engage (no message)

Battery voltage: 12.3/4

Where should I start?

Thanks!

#1) check bulb connections (IOW seat unseat seat bulbs) for corrosion. I

check black ground wire. Too small, many of us ran proper size wire to ground plane.

more likely 2b bad brake switch but ez to check these though.

cd not related.

The brake light/cruise unavailable. It's likely the brake switch. Not expensive($125?) but an unpleasant repair. I had it done. Too old to crawl in the floor board.

From relay # 5 trunk fuse box at the Orange / Green relay control wire that is brake switch controled you can depress the brake pedal to see it provide a car frame ground with the ignition key in the on before start position

Thanks! I'm going to monitor continuity while moving the switch around.

Take that with a grain of salt, those switches typically do not fail outright. They work for a long time, and then fail, sometimes, and then work again, making a simple continuity test a frustrating experience. Best is to source a new one. FWIW, the 2 micro switches on the board have been identified and can be sourced cheaply, but have to be soldered in, if you are into repairs...
