It's been more than ten years since I started this thread with a way to get access to your locked trunk without a key but I've never needed to use it in anger

Until this week

I was in a rush to get an item from my trunk for another Jaguar owner just as we were about to depart in a convoy of Jaguars during a tour in France. I returned to my XK8 to find the trunk and both doors shut and locked and no sign of my key and fob. It took no more than thirty seconds to realise what I'd done, reach under the bumper, pull the ring and open the trunk. There were the keys, I turned off the alarm, got in the car and joined the convoy on time

So I thought I'd just resurrect this thread for the more recent members of the forum, to introduce them to thinking about how to avoid a potentially expensive and/or damaging solution with their XKs and offer one simple, proven way out and get you on your way

I never put my keys in any trunk, nor do I put them on the floor of the cargo area when I am loading or unloading anything from the rear of our two SUVs. And I always ensure my keys are in my hand or in my pants pocket before closing any trunk lid or cargo door. Works for me....
