Default engine fault poor performance

According to a Jag tech bulletin and some answers to an earlier EGR question on the forum, I can remove the pipe from the exhaust to the EGR valve and put two blank plates( part# XKR 14038) and this will fix my 405 and 406 code problems. Has anyone else done this and if so does anyone know where I can buy the plates? If not I guess I'll use the gaskets for a pattern to make them.

My 97 does not have a egr valve, and there is none listed in the JTIS. Are you just guessing about blanking off the openings, or have you actually observed them?
