i have a 99 xk8 and a 2001 silverstone xkr short front
can i put the motor and transmission from the xkr into the xk8?
i want to know if the wiring swap will be an issue?

 

The wiring harness is different, as is the TCM andECU, etc.

 

i have all the wiring, computer, instrument cluster,rake,front end,steering column everything

 

I don't see a problem if you do a complete xkr engine& tans swap also using the same harness from the xkr in the xk8. harness behind the dashboard,engine bay harness all ecu,tcm related component maybe the rear end and swap the brakes for sure. Xk8s 2001 and down lack big time in the brake department. Besides that nothing lies in the way!

yes i have the brembo's as well,but as i have only the short front of the 2001 silverstone xkr with 24,000 k/m on the car.i am lacking the rear end,but i don't think that will be an issue

 

There is more to think off, the r has a dual pump system, and the drive shaft (so between the gearbox and diff) is a 2 piece part.

 

a correct driveshaft can be obtained and cut and rewelded to suit xk8
but i'm in limp mode as to the dual pump system.if the pumps are in the fuel tank then perhaps i can change the tank for the correct one...................

 

Yup. Literally play Lego with them lol all the parts can be swapped or exchanged around lol I exchanges parts all the time between my 1999 xk8 & 2003 xkr it's fun.
