I'm a bit puzzled by these 2 error messages on my iCarSoft. Are they connected - I rather suspect not. And is the P1582 just info or a specific error?
It would appear that the P0445 is suggesting that there is something wrong with the EVAP system. Well, I cannot smell fuel near the front left wheel arch where most of the EVAP system is lurking and I have no appreciable increase in fuel consumption.
It seems a very complicated system and i don't really know where to start.
Has anybody out there had experience of this error and more importantly succeded in solving it.
The EVAP system is well known by Forum members, and there has been a recent spate of problems noted on this Forum.
The P0445 DTC noted is described as below.
So the DTC points to a wiring problem, most probably at the Purge Valve. Worth looking at it, behind the wheel well liner, as it could simply be a dirty/broken connector.. Rev Sam has a Youtube video on the subject.
SOLVED
If only all repairs were as easy.
On removing the wheel well liner I immediately noticed that there was a socket with no plug in it. The cable with the plug was pushed away behind some pipes and on re-attaching it the P0445 error was gone as well as the yellow motor warning icon on the dash.
HOWEVER. It is a complete mystery how this cable could become free of the socket and tie itself up among pipes and cables above the socket.
The car was running fine until I laid it up in November for the winter. It remained untouched until April when I dug it out, taxed and insured it again and drove off into the sunset. (I know I should have run at least the air con every couple of weeks but I seem to have got away with any problems there.)
How can a cable detach itself over the winter. I'm completely baffled and immensely relieved that the problem was so easily fixed. Thanks are due to you guys who responded with advice above.
