Default Exaust tips. What diameter?

Before I start chasing the exhaust note with upgrades I'm going to start with just a pair of nice stainless steel, 4" oval exhaust tips. I think I'll eventually install the Adamesh or Mina exhaust upgrades but it'll have to wait. (The well is a bit dry after the tax man got a hold of me.)

So, does anyone know what size inlet exhaust tips fit the OEM pipes? I think the inlet diameter is 2.25" but I'm not certain. Thanks in advance for the info.

Default Exhaust

SLazz lots of great write ups here on exhaust...kinda like pillows though, with some liking harder and some softer.
Funds for mods were fairly low for me at the time I was considering a change. Had some tips from my departed XJR that had exhaust mods done previously. Cleaned and shined them and they bolted right up. They are larger than NA tips so they filled apertures in bumper better in my opinion.

After reading virtually everything on the site, I figured a low $ option was to start eliminating mufflers. First the center muffler. Slightly louder but not quite enough. Currently the only mufflers I am running are the stock mufflers just prior to the tips with an H pipe in place of the center muffler.
Happy with the sound. Not that different than the old XJR with Borlas, and bucks minus...that was almost 10 years ago.
One thing I will pass along that was golden from this forum: As I have a vert, make sure your happy with the sound with the top down. It will be louder AND different. I live in the San Fran Bay area, so top is down a lot. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info. Being I'm a bit of an older guy I may just change out the tips to 4" ovals and leave the rest of the system alone. Quiet might be better. I'd hate to rustle the feathers of some kid in a ricer and get into a ridiculous road race.

BTW, I enjoyed your pillow analogy. I think that really sums it up.

I think you will find the pipe diameter to be smaller than 2.25. It's a metric size pipe, the 2.25 tips I got where loose. I used "paste type" muffler joint sealer, a 2" sleeve and a couple pop rivets to hold them on.

See post 9 and 10 here for my 4" ovals...https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...roject-118210/

FYI the 4 OEM exhaust pipe clamps NJB6744GA are 52.4mm (2.06"). Not sure if the final outlet dimensions are different. https://www.sngbarratt.com/us/#!/Eng...2-616e985b3fb1

Thanks to all for the info. I think I'm going to have my muffler man install tow, 2.25" stainless steel straight pipes w/ oval tips in place of the two rear mufflers. I think that set up will give me just enough sound w/o raising too many eyebrows. I'm hoping for a slightly deeper, mellow sound.
