I would just leave it the way it is.

I have a 2000 and it is quiet, but if i rev the engines it gets loud.
The whole point of a muffler is to muffle the sound to make it quiet, I don't understand this loud muffler craze. Quite is good, especially at low speeds.
If u want a loud muffler u shoulda bout a ricer man, lol.

You may want to try a local exhaust shop. They could replace the front or rear mufflers with straight pipe. The PO of my 82 XJ6 did this to beef up the exhaust sound. I didn't care for it, so the fix was as easy as his alteration. The nice thing is that if you don't like the sound, you can have them put the mufflers back on the car. Just a thought.
