Default Exhaust question...1997 XK8 Coupe.

I need some exhaust parts, and on Craigslist in Los Angeles I found a complete SS Exhaust for my XK8, as mine is rusted. I have replaced one muffler, but need the center and two mids. This exhaust is a SS one off an XKR. Any differences I should be aware of? It looks the same.

I believe the exhausts are the same on the xk8 and xkr, both SS, but lower grade as they tend to rust.

The LA exhaust will likely have no rust due to the favorable weather though.

Might be worth it to have an exhaust shop bend you a custom SS system if you plan on keeping the car, or to order a system off the net.

You would not belive the condition of the exhaust, it appears as new!!! All the piping is near perfect and the mufflers are chromed. The exhaust was taken off after 15k miles. I paid only $100 for the entire exhaust!!!!

There are 2 different methods of fitting the pipes to the cataverters 'Flange or Slip-Joint'.
The one pictured is 'Flange' so hopefully your's is the same.

Hey, before it's installed have your muffler guy weld an X-pipe in place of the center muffler. That will help with the sound a little, unless you don't like the sound of a throaty exhaust.

I had my guy just put it in as it was, he commented the entire system was "like new". It sounds and looks great! I was lucky, everything bolted up smoothly. Really sound great, and looks super!
