Default Factory phone microphone to aftermarket kit

Hi,

my 2001 coupe has an aftermarket Bluetooth phone kit fitted with a microphone on the headlining between the sun visor and mirror.

is the factory built in microphone in the ceiling console with the courtesy lights? If it is does anyone know if it’s possible to connect that to the Bluetooth kit?

I don’t mind a bit of soldering and I’m just about to change the headlining so will have good access to everything.

Thanks
kevin

The microphone is probably a Jaguar installed part for the mobile phone from 20 years ago. It was also used in some cars with VOICE ACTIVATION.

Blue Tooth was not an option in North America until the 4.2 liter X00s. (can't say anything about ROW cars)

The factory microphone is mounted on the headlining. See this post from GGG:

The other end of the wiring is in the centre console.

If you're pulling the headlining, beware that the mic. base mounting is pop-riveted to it, although you can just wiggle the connector (once you've disconnected it from under the roof console) out.
