Finally getting my CAT back
I am finally getting my 2002 XKR convertible back tomorrow after a long month of repairs stemming from running over a very large object on the freeway in a very dark stretch of the 101 on my way home from Santa Barbara. Although nothing was punctured, the insurance adjuster chose to have replaced all of the banged up items underneath the car. The repair was over $7000 and there was no body work! When I saw it this afternoon, I was smitten all over again. And yes, I've had to "suffer" driving my 2010 XKR coupe, but there is simply no comparison in the looks department, first gen XK/XKR is simply a more beautiful, sensual, feline, and while it may not be as quick nor handle as well, I feel grander driving it.
Tomorrow, the top goes down, and I get to have the pleasure of driving a classic again! Can't wait.

Frankly, I'm shocked the car wasn't totalled as the repair is approximately 80-90% of the car's value. I can't explain it except that my body shop owner said he has worked with this adjuster before and they have a good relationship, whatever that means. During the time in the shop, we replaced shock mount bushings as well, and I definitely notice the car sits slightly higher, which is a good thing, since the front was definitely very low. I can't wait to get in and drive her again, wind blowing through my balding hair.
