It does say "HOLD", not BUY. Could be another 10 years before they start to appreciate in value. In a few more years when you can only purchase an electric powered Jaguar, they might become more valuable.

Also note that it's only the XKR.

Default It would be worse... and on off-topic Hagerty link

While we bought ours to enjoy, rather than as an investment, it's great to see that it's not a "sell" recommendation.

This is waaaay waaay off topic, but my BIL's vehicle was just featured in Hagerty's last month

It's a WWII M16A2 Halftrack that he found & recovered from the African desert while on duty there and restored with my son's help.

The article shows it fully restored and in motion, with powered quad 50-cal AA turret (not weapons) operational .

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for the value to climb. We XJS owners have been waiting even longer. I'd say just buy and enjoy the car, the buy in price is relatively low.

That doesn't sound right. They just accepted my 06 XK8 in carbon fiber trim.

They wouldn't cover my XK8 either because I drive it daily.

They like to insure cars that don't get a lot of road time. Risk mitigation and all that...

Fun and enjoyment is why I bought mine. And because I can. It's salty road winter time here in the American mid-west so it won't see the road for a bit. I won't treat it poorly, I have too much respect for it. But I drive it as often as appropriate to enjoy and maybe show off a little.

Hagerty recognized mine as a collectible 2016 for a very good agreed upon value. it is only an XK8. i decided to go with Grundy as their policy was a much better price for the same agreed upon value. the key with Grundy was that i have a garage. when i move this might be a problem for me as my residence will not have its own garage and i will rent one.

Hagerty insures some collectibles in a friend's collection. interestingly they also consider some of his rather mundane, but older vehicles collectible and insure them with stated value policies. they will never have high value, but could be said to be examples of their time. one is a late eighties Ranger pickup.

Most of us buy for enjoyment. Getting Hagerty insurance would just be an added advantage.

You might want to take a look at AmericanCollectors.Com. I was able to get Agreed Value on my cars ( including the '97 XK8) with only one daily driver car ( because we are retired). They have varying levels of mileage available, including one that is called Freedom. I found the prices to be very good. One other place to look is Corvette Museum Auto Insurance. Their prices were the best, but they did require 2 daily drivers ( for my wife and I).

Hagerty gave me a good quote on my XK8 but I put less than 3K miles a year on it.
