Fire Extinguisher
I usually like to have a fire extinguisher mounted somewhere convenient in all my cars. If anyone has come up with a solution to this question for a 1998 XK8, I would love to hear it.

Just my opinions:
The worst type to use is the chemical powder ABC style. The powder is very caustic and impossible to clean out of every crack amd
crevice in the car. As it sit there it will be eating away at the metal leaving a nasty discoloration.
the Halon type are nice, but do not always play nice with electronic parts.,
My favorite for my vintage cars and other vehicles, size permitting, is the old fashioned CO2 Extinguisher. Practically zero residue, no cleanup. And the fire is usually smothered within seconds. Yes, the full size ones are large. But fit nicely behind the front passenger seat since that area is never going to see any full sized passengers anyway.
the CO2’s are inexpensive and can be recharged indefinitely.

I don’t bother. If something starts burning, I leave it go. As a former Firefighter, I can attest that a small extinguisher is only going to give you about a 30 second or less squirt until it dies. No matter what you use, the car is usually totalled or damaged enough to give you mechanical gremlins the rest of it’s ownership. Besides, the telescopic hydraulic cylinders become harpoons. We always advised people to get a good distance away from the car. I do see extinguisher being used as wheel chocks at a lot of car shows.
