Default Fitting a replacement Stereo/GPS with 7 in screen.

When its finished it looks like this...

The screen folds away. You can move it forwards to access the heater controls no problem.

You must select the right unit 1 DIN. this means it fits in a standard 2 inch high hole.If you want mapping you need one with GPS .The mirror function only works with old Android and iphone . Forget it. Some come with a reversing camera included ( I already had one) If it looks like the photo below its OK .All the brands seem to be identical.

When you pull out the old radio you are faced with a mass of wires none of which match the colours on the jagrepair diagrams. However the speaker wires seem to be standard ISO green/purple/white/grey all grouped together. If you need to check which wire goes to which speaker the best way is to put an AA battery across the wires and the speaker will click with no damage. The continuous live is yellow and the ign switched red. I joined in the illumination wire with the red so when ignition comes on it lights up to match the dash. The mass of wires to the right on the photo all relate to the phone so I cut them off short. If you dont like soldering and heatshrink you can get an adaptor BUT its 20 PIN ISO not 16.

Here is the correct adaptor ,,Ebay

If you fit it straight into the DIN hole you have a gap around the edge. Now I had to force the old radio out so I had a front panel to cut. You could easily cut an inverted U in 1/4 ply and spray it black but here is mine.

and cut

Got to sand off the writing top left. The gear knob in P makes a good anti theft device.
So I have.
Stereo FM DAB radio
GPS
Reversing Camera
Hands free phone via Bluetooth
Hope you enjoy.

I suspect someone has been in there before you if the wiring was as you say.
