Front fog light indicator bulb problem
I seem to have an intermittent fault on the switch module on my XKR 2002.
The fog lights work fine but the indicator light in the switch works only intermittently
Today I took the unit out, checked the led and it seemed fine - just to make sure I swapped the led for the rear fog lights which was working and the problem persists so its not the led (one is yellow, one is green)
The switch itself works fine - the lamps go on and off, and I can hear the relay click in and out
I checked for any broken circuit and could fine none
There is a 20uf capacitor that looked a bit swollen - I didnt have a 20 around so I tried a 46 uf but it didnt fix the problem
Just to confuse me further when I reassembled the unit the light was working and now its not again
Any ideas other than replacing the entire module (or ignoring it as I don't think its a warrant of fitness issue in this country)

Just an opinion of course, forget about it.
the lights work fine, so just go with that. I’m in the same boat as you.
So yes, it’s aggravating for the indicator not to function. But in the big scheme of things, the fog lights (themselves) showing that they are on is a pretty darn good indicator.

If you have the switch unit out of the car, I would test the indicator lights are working by putting +12v on the supply pin on the connector and 0v on the pin for the LED (according to the wiring diagram on mine that is pin 9 and 18 for the front fog, but you should check yourself). Rather than using the car battery for this, use a bench power supply or even a 9v battery.
If the LED is working ok on the board, the only other thing would be the ground wire to the BPM/front fog relay - check for a broken or dirty connection.
Thanks mate. Good advice really
this morning they are working - I don't know if they were not before or I just couldn't see them due to being really low output leds lol
If the problem with yours is just the led its not that hard to replace it - I could talk you through

Thanks - good advice. I did swap out and resolder the leds
Its now working making me think maybe yesterday I didnt see that it was fixed in strong light as they are very low output leds. Who knows
I will check the relay earth lead
Cheers

Maybe simply unplugging and plugging the connector back in fixed something? It's always worth spraying with contact cleaner when things are apart in case the contacts are dirty.
When my LEDs stopped working it was just the fuse.
