Default Front Shock mounts

Has anyone tried the (I'm guessing) recast front shock mounts from Welsh? I also see SNG has OE mounts for same price - $79/ea, considerably less than what they have been for years.

$160/pr seems to be the new price. I bought the stock ones for more. I wish I bought the Welsh Ebay Store ones that everyone did right after I bought mine direct.

Buy them from the Welsh Ebay Store and you get free shipping.

I just bought the $160 a pair Welch Ebay Store ones a few days ago but they have not arrived yet. They are supposed to come with all hardware. They have been shipped. I think they are due here on the 4th. I'll let you know what they look like.

Also if anyone is looking. You can buy a new expansion tank here with cap and sensor for 65$: (good deal)

Of course I have not seen it yet ... so?

You did good by getting the ones put together, the others are a real pain, as the pop rivets do not hold.
Ride is good and you will find they go in with ease.
Did you get new shocks or replace the lower bushing? I have found the cars with 60K to 80K still have good shocks, just bad bushings. I know while you are there, type of thing, right.

Purchased a pair recently for my MY1997 XK8 convertible from SNG Barratt UK, but haven't gotten around to fitting them, since there are more pressing transmission issues to attend to. Still driving her around with lots of front end metal clashing noise ...

Also noticed the right front tire has excessive wear on the inside. Wonder whether its the wheel alignment or toe-in/toe-out or ride-height-adjustment going out of whack???

As the upper shock mounts crumble away, the front end sags by an inch or more and the front wheels tend to splay out, causing excess inner-edge treadwear on both front tires. That is probably what you are seeing....

I would suggest you get that used transmission in or you won't be having any tire wear. In my opinion you lucky the car is still moving at all.

Thank you so much for your advice. My tranny is being rebuilt right now, having located a transmission specialist whom I did not realize really existed in Hong Hong at all. She should be back on track in a few more days.

Great. I was worried that if you kept driving it she would fail on you. Enjoy when she's back on the road.
