Default Front Shocks Changeout - What To Do With Old Ones?

The lower bushings on my original ('03 XK8) shocks were mushy, so I bought new Bilsteins with bushings. Original shocks had ~20K miles and weren't leaking. Don't want to throw them out, but have no need for them. If anyone has any use for them, they're yours for the shipping charge. PM me if interested.

Well, you could have replaced the lower bush and saved yourself some money.

It is commendable that you don't want to just chuck them in the trash. They probably do something with things like that in Germany with their "cradle to grave" mentality. On a similar note, it seems they aren't taking many types of plastic for recycling anymore around here. They say the Chinese quit taking it.

Thanks, Jimmy.

Had someone interested, but when I took a look at them this morning, I realized I had forgotten that the threads on the mounting studs are damaged and will require some attention. Full disclosure here, as I don't want to mislead.

And, Giandaniel - I know I could have gone that route, but I wanted to upgrade the shocks as long as I was replacing the upper mounts. Plus, I understand that replacing that bushing is not for the faint of heart...

Ha! I have this same question... along with two shocks-with-springs sitting in my driveway. They should work OK, just a little worn and in need of new bushings and mounts, so I hate to throw them out.

When I first bought my car almost sight-unseen, risking it for a good price, I wanted to get it driving as quickly and cheaply as I could because I didn't know if it was going to last a month before konking out. I picked up a couple of used struts off eBay and swapped them in.

The car kept on keeping on, though, and once it looked like the XK8 was going to hang around, then I went ahead and rebuilt them right. Now the used, un-rebuilt struts are just sitting there, and I haven't made the time to try to list them back on eBay for someone else.

Now there is a thought, rebuilding complete Strut systems.
I would think the cost of shipping back and forth would be a issue in that case.
Like Richard and Volkris, I have a few good shocks I have replaced with new, only needing lower bushings, just in case I help put in bushings for some one and we find a leaking shock.
Most seem to be in good shape, more physical wear due to bad bushings. Lots of scraps.
Wish I could get a deal on lower bushings, would certainly replace a few pair for the masses.
