Hi guy's

need some advise, my front suspension sound like "knirk", "knirk" on the left side, is it the upper spring mounting plates that are bad, the springs, or the shocks? - I suspect the plates, but I'm not 100% sure!

Your advise would be great and highly appriciated prior I order the part's - many thanks in advance

Br, you may want to describe the conditions that make the sound (speed, bumps, turning, idle rocking the corner by hand...)

Don't rule out the sway bar bushings either. That had me stumped for a long time.

The Shock nut should be centered in the hole and the Orange foam should not be crumbling at all.


That shock nut doesn't look centered and there appears to be a little edge crumbling of the foam.


Crumbling foam can lead to metal to metal contact and noise.


It looks from the picture that the upper shock mount could use replacement.


How is the front end ride height? - the other indication of worn upper shock mounts.

the foam is a bit crumpling, so yes I agree, I should replace them.
the front is quite low, have not measured it, but I have no other problems
with the suspension when driving, fast or slow, besides from the "knirk" sound
when driving slow over bumps.

 

I tried to catch the sound on video..check below - any idea's?

 

Hi All,

problem now fixed with one oil spray can !!!

spray'd both fronts springs, bushings, shock's - in other words everything until the can was empty - no more annoying "knirk" "knirk" sound from front suspension.

Pretty sure it will come back once whatever bush/joint causing it has dried out again:
but as long as it only costs a can of spray lube and definately isn't a progressive impending failure, guess its possibly a cheap fix as long as you can but the spray in bulk?
when it happens again spray bushes/joints/parts one at a time to help isolate what is causing it.
