Default front towing hole plug

Does anyone know the part number for the plastic plug that is used to cover the hole where the towing eye screws into at the front of the car.

I have had a search around but cant find the part number and Jag says it doesn't exist, but it does as my car had at least one before I dug it out.

There's been a few issues with viewing images reported across the sections recently but nothing consistent enough to be able to root out the problem.

I'll attach the image and also paste it again here:

Can you see either / both of these?

Paul,

I've edited post #2 to re-attach the image. Is it visible now?

Were those eyes that fit into those holes really meant for towing?

I thought that I heard somewhere that what they were meant for was for was to secure a car for shipping overseas. That is not to say that they could not possibly be used for some short distance and mild towing if necessary, but I don't think that they were designed for that specific purpose.

I would use the word 'recovery', not towing.

I purchased those plugs a couple of years ago from a dealer.

Thanks Graham, I spent 10mins on the phone with Jag parts today trying to find this, they didn't believe it existed.

I dont think my car could be towed with this as the threads have all but rusted away. My plan is to inject the cavities in the front beam with rust converter and then with cavity wax to try to slow the rot.

I didn't even know our cars had this- my old 944 Turbo had this and it was a cleaver feature. And used more than once... part of the reason I'm a Jag man now... Is 'recovery' use OK for having a tow truck winch it up on a flatbed? That's the extent of my use with these.

According to the Jaguar PDI (Pre Delivery Inspection) Manual, the Towing Eyes are removed during inspection and preparation for sale. One should be stored in the tool kit.

The screw-in plastic bungs are regularly missing.

I had my last 2001 XK8 towed onto a flat bed twice in one week using the front towing eye when I was in denial about a failed Throttle Body!
