Smile Front wheel camber adjustment

Gettint ready to replace the front shocks on the XK8 (51K miles) due to the lower bushings gone bad from oil (must be leaking from shock). While I am at it I was thinking about taking out some of the camber that is causing excess tire wear on the inside. I understand that there is an after market lower A frame pivot bolt that will provide a camber adjustment. Have any of you experts had experience with this modification???

Thanks guys

Its not aftermarket it is a jaguar part...... Some XKs were fitted with them some weren't it depended on factory setup...... There is a thread somewhere with the part no.s

I recall following at least one thread on the subject. The amount of change was very small. Motorcarman may have contributed to the thread.

I can't remember if there was a TSB for the XK or it may have been a Parts TSB.
I looked but did not see it.

It also could have been a TECH TIP from years gone by.

Look in the Parts Catalogue for the replacement bolt.

I used a few when I did alignments at the dealer 'back in the day'.

In particular, read post #6 in that thread. Your XK is old enough that the upper mounts are probably shot. As long as you're replacing the shocks, get new upper mounts in there, too. That will likely correct your camber problem. It made about a 1 degree difference in each wheel on mine.

Thanks for the recommendation. If you are talking about the upper strut mounts they still look great. there is not deteration of the rubber visable from the engine compartment. Will do further inspection before going ahead. However if you are talking about the upper A frame bushings that is in the plan.

youre not getting inside tire wear from camber unless youre around 2degress negative camber and then like Oregon already noted. I would be looking at collapsed upper shock mounts and or A arm bushings. i would replace all if going that far. You tire wear inside is either from too much play in front end parts allowing the car to toe out too much from road force. And or from an alignment tech that thinks "in the middle of specs" should be fine. Its not
