Fuel pump price - 03 and above - XKR
Hi guys,
any of you ever shop for the fuel pump:
Part number: C2N001147
This is for 4.2 XKR, so '03 and above.
I plan to sell mine, and would like to get all things fixed. The one really annoying this is the long crank (after long interval), and my local mechanic confirms that the fuel tank is not giving the right amt of pressure, at least during the start. Once the car starts, no issues, so this is more like a weekend morning thing.
It does look suspiciously similar to the issue that Rev posted some time back.
I've shopped around for this part - and various stores here in the States quote anywhere from $775 to close to $900 (forum sponsor included). Any of you have better sources out there - with better price? Tried the car-part.com route as well already with no joy.
Looking to swap with an X150-gen car, but keeping an open mind.

Yes - thought about that too ....
I am not in a hurry to sell or swap - giving my self a few months - 3/4 or even longer. In the meantime, still taking the car on road trips. Spring is coming up - so there's at least a wildflower drive around Texas.
Be nice to have it completely done - and not have any concern at all on the upcoming trips.
Plus I don't look locally for the X150. It's pretty rare around here to find one, and the local dealer, .... let's just say that their reviews are mixed.
As a side note: I bought mine from a private party in the Bay Area and drove it home the next day.

In order to avoid a lot of futile cranking you might try cycling the key on for 3-4 seconds then off. Repeat a few times then attempt starting. Almost all electronic fuel injected cars give a 2 second burst of power to the fuel pump when the key is switched on. Cycling it a few times should allow it enough time to build up adequate pressure. Not exactly speedy but it might save you the cost of a starter and/or battery.
