Default Finding my first XKR

I am looking for an XKR, but have not owned one before. I would really like to find a Silverstone edition or an XKR-100. Anything I should watch out for? I have been looking at Autotrader.com, any other sites you suggest to find a nice XKR for the weekends?

The number of '100's built is self explanatory but I didn't think about just how rare Silverstone's also are until you posted this.

According to John Blunsden's book 'Jaguar XK8 and XKR', there was only 100 Silverstone's built, 50 Coupes and 50 Convertibles.

I looked at one before I bought my XK8. I thought the wood paneling was ugly. each to his own.

Agreed. I also don't like the red stitching on the black leather, or the wheels. But each to his/her own, as you say...

Al;

You have a better chance of finding a convertible.

Despite the special edition numbers and remember that is world wide production.

The general run of XKR Coupes is only one ninth of total XK production.

good luck,

jj

Stateside there was 232 Silverstones imported coupes and convertibles to the U.S.. 100 were introduced a year earlier in England. total world wide production 558. XKR 100's production was 500 world wide production basically the same vehicle, a year later. As a buyer of a New Silverstone, Jaguar invited you and a guest to the Silverstone Raceway to be in the pits with the Jaguar Racing team and drive a jag on the race track.
The birds eye maple dash originally was smoked in color but almost every one I've seen including mine has bleached out. The weird thing about the dash is when the sun hits it it looks like hundreds of little sparkling eyes looking at you.Of course I own one and the red stitching makes the black leather stand out. Black, Silver and Red color combinations do go together But to each his own.

Another interesting fact the 100 on the XKR 100 stands for Sir William Lyons 100th birthday

Hi Almar - if you're looking for a special edition type, why not the 04 Portfolio? The red one on that edition is quite eye catching IMHO. You also get the benefit of 4.2L engine, with improved tensioners.

When I looked for mine, I used cars.com, yahoo auto, eBay motors and Craigslist. I found mine through Craigslist, from a motivated private party seller.
